Who we are
RCTV is an independent publication covering AI software and the business of generative video. The site is published from Miami, Florida by RCTV’s sole owner-operator. This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you visit rctv.com or subscribe to our newsletter, how we use it, and what choices you have.
If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at rctv.oxncw@simplelogin.com.
What we collect
Analytics data. When you visit rctv.com, our analytics provider (Google Analytics 4) collects standard usage information through cookies and similar technologies. This includes:
- Your IP address (anonymized by Google before storage)
- Browser type, operating system, and device category
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website (where you came from)
- Approximate geographic location (typically country or region, not precise location)
We do not collect names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information through analytics.
Newsletter signups. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect:
- Your email address
- The date you subscribed
- Whether you’ve opened or clicked links in past emails
This information is processed and stored by ConvertKit, our email service provider. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Netlify) maintains standard server logs for security and performance monitoring. These logs include IP addresses, request timestamps, and pages requested. Netlify’s data practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
What we do not collect. We do not collect payment information (we don’t sell anything). We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels. We do not share visitor data with social networks beyond standard outbound link clicks. We do not currently use heatmap, session-recording, or behavior-tracking tools beyond GA4.
How we use the information
- Editorial decisions. Aggregate analytics data tells us which articles readers engage with, what search queries bring people to the site, and where to invest editorial attention. We do not use individual reader behavior to make decisions; we look at patterns across all visitors.
- Newsletter delivery. Email addresses are used solely to send the RCTV newsletter you subscribed to.
- Performance and security monitoring. Server logs help us detect performance issues, security threats, and abuse.
- Legal compliance. If required by law, we may retain or disclose information to comply with legal process, court orders, or regulatory requests.
We do not use any data we collect for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or third-party marketing.
Cookies and tracking
rctv.com uses cookies in two contexts:
- Google Analytics cookies for the analytics described above. These are set by Google and persist for up to 14 months by default. You can disable them in your browser settings or install Google’s GA opt-out add-on.
- Session cookies set by Netlify for routine site delivery and security purposes. These are essential to the site functioning and cannot be disabled separately from GA cookies.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or persistent identifiers beyond the GA cookies described above.
Third-party services
- Google Analytics 4 — analytics. Privacy policy.
- ConvertKit — newsletter delivery. Privacy policy.
- Netlify — hosting. Privacy policy.
These providers process data as our service providers, subject to their own privacy commitments. We do not authorize them to use your data for their own marketing purposes.
