Black Forest Labs is the Freiburg-founded lab behind the FLUX model family, built by former Stability AI researchers and best known for image generation. Its FLUX 3 multimodal model extended the line into video in July 2026, and FLUX 3 Video reached general availability on August 4; Runway, Pika, Luma and fal.ai had all absorbed it within about three weeks, none of it announced by BFL.
